Couch Potatoes

Standard Tuesday watching The Real Housewives
Disclosure: I watch an absurd amount of bad television. Usually it is of the Bravo variety aka brain poison according to Mr. Fonty. But the mid-season premiers have given us not one, but two shows we can agree on! This is a major feat when the Mr's dvr is filled with shows about theories of organisms exploding to creating human life or swamp Cajuns finding Sasquatches.

The first new obsession is The Following. (Mondays at 9 on Fox)
The Following is a crazy suspenseful show about a convicted serial killer, Joe Carroll (James Purefoy) who escapes prison igniting his army of copy cat followers to go on a killing spree. Kevin Bacon plays Ryan Hardy the FBI agent who put Carroll behind bars, and is called in to capture him once again. The writing is so good. Just when you think you know where the story line is going, it takes off in a completely new direction. Catch up on HULU
The second show planting me on the couch is The Americans (Wednesdays at 9 on FX - who knew FX still existed?).
I knew immediately when I saw Keri Russell had a new show that I would love it. Felicity can do no wrong. But this is not the sweet, somewhat embarrasing Felicity who watches the swim tryouts of a guy who doesn't even know her name. Based in the 80's, Keri Russell plays an ass-kicking KGB agent living in the US with her fellow KGB officer husband, Brothers & Sisters', Matthew Rhys. The show's characters are so great it manages to have you rooting for the enemy. The costume design is also pretty incredible. KR looks very at home rocking Guess denim with bodysuits - a look that doesn't need to come back anytime soon. Catch up on HULU
