Splurge vs. Steal: Blaze the Trail

We are off to Asheville, NC this weekend to celebrate Heath & Molly, the future Mr. & Mrs. Milligan. From the minute Molly came on the scene, we all knew she was a keeper for our Keath. Cheers to you both, and many more weekends of freeloading off the Milligans on Sea Island. I know that's right!
Being in the mountains, Asheville is always about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Athens which means August brings perfect evening temperatures for dancing under the stars. One could grab the standard pashmina to stay warm, but why not look a little edgier, and top that dress off with a blazer?
(The "Steal" side has some real gems this week. That dress is $98 and those adorable tassel earrings are only $50. Although, I am really thinking my closet could use an Equipment blazer for fall... )

Jean Pool

HELLO! Long time no write. I've been a combination of out of town and lazy. The perfect storm for abandoning a blog. But, of all the things to inspire me to write again, it was jean cut-offs that brought me back from the dead. 
Summer is still in full swing in the south, but a "cold front" is moving through this week, bringing our nightly lows into the high 60's. Anything below 73 is considered long sleeve weather to me, so here is how I will be taking my cutoffs from scorching summer to a feels like fall evening.

Splurge vs. Steal: All White Now

I am declaring this summer, the summer of the white blazer. 
I actually pulled a white blazer from a bag awaiting it's consignment destiny when I saw all these impossibly chic women looking fresh and hip in my castoff from my former working girl days. There isn't even the tiniest hint of late 90's cubicle in any of these blazers.  
Every now and again I find the Steal side more lust-worthy than the Splurge items. This is one of those times. That Yosemite tee and neon bag are ordered and en route to my house...

London Calling

Mr. Fonty had a last minute work trip to London come up, and I am tagging along! We leave on Monday for a quick 5 day trip across the pond. We planned and booked our trip 10 days before leaving. I've dubbed this kind of high speed travel planning - "Instant GratiVacation", and I think I can get used to living in fast forward.
I've never been to London, so I will be taking full advantage of Mr. Fonty's day meetings to visit all the royal stomping grounds and tourist traps. I'm leaving my shame in the Atlanta airport, and plan to befriend these folks, and get them to take my pictures all around town. Gladys has a real great photographic eye.
I am an excellent packer, and don't see why I need anything more than a carry-on (for the pre-Harrods trip to London, at least). The key to packing light is reduce, reuse and recycle layers that can transition from day to night - and by all means, don't bring a separate pair of shoes for every outfit. I've picked 2 pairs that are comfortable, but still have some style. The grey oxfords are patent leather, perfect to fend off an afternoon drizzle.  Bring on Buckingham Palace!
